The James Pantyfedwen grant allowed me to study at Masters’ level with peace of mind regarding my tuition fees. By completing a MSc in criminology and criminal justice I have gained many skills that will be of great benefit to me and my future career endeavours. The ability to study at a postgraduate level has further enabled me to develop my critical analysis and communication skill as well as my ability to express my own understanding and opinions within the criminological discipline.

Completing my research project allowed me to enhance my time management and organisational skills as I was able to produce an in depth and critical piece of work within a short-time frame. This ability to study at postgraduate level certainly deepened my appreciation and understanding of criminology and confirmed my passion for the discipline, in particular the study of wrongful convictions.

I am unsure of my future career plans at this moment in time as I am taking a year to celebrate and reflect on my past studies by travelling Australia. Although, upon my return to Wales I hope to potentially pursue a career within the criminal justice system. In particular I wish to further understand how we can work to eliminate the occurrence of wrongful convictions and further advocate for those impacted by such injustices. I would like to thank the Foundation for allowing me to pursue my studies in such an interesting and fulfilling subject.
