St Denys Church in Wales, Lisvane

This local parish church in Lisvane decided to knock down the property which they used as extra space for their church activities and rebuild a new larger more flexible purpose-built facility with a better long-term environmental profile.  The re-build was supported by Cardiff Council, via Church Act in Wales, the Benefact Charity, the James Pantyfedwen Foundation and the Diocese of Llandaff Mission Fund. The keys of the building were handed over to the vicar by the builders on 13th March 2023, and will  be called Ty Price, after the Price  family, who originally donated their house to the Church.

The building has been used for office work, a Church Lunch when approximately 60 attended, and a Safeguarding Training Module for the Church in Wales in South East Wales with approximately 50 people attending.  Youth work activities, which are happening throughout the week and on Sundays, and run by our employed youth worker, Ali Jensen, are proving to be very popular with the young people.

The size of the property offers much potential use, to serve the spiritual, social, and personal needs of the local communities. An open barbeque is being organised after the Lisvane Fete, following on from a combined service with the Lisvane Baptist Church. The property is having some landscaping work done, ecologically sustainable planting, which will be both easily maintained and beneficial to the local wildlife.

The church members want to thank all those who have helped in supporting the project at Church House, aka Ty Price, St Denys and enabling it to be financially secure and equipped to a good standard. This will help ensure that the facility is fit for purpose to serve the needs of all sections of the local community for years to come.
