Grace Church, Swansea
We are very grateful to God for his provision every step of the way in obtaining the money and skills to transform the building for our community.
The total cost of our project was £370,000 and the work took 6 months to complete. Since reopening, we have been overwhelmed by how having a community church space like this has impacted both the congregation and wider community. As a congregation, we can worship more freely with a space for children and adults to worship beside each other. We have a separate Sunday School space created where our children can thrive and learn about the Bible through craft and play. The space is fit for purpose for our community style events including Macmillan Coffee Mornings, Christmas Fairs, Easter Messy Church and more.
Throughout the week the church is open as a Coffee Shop which brings in lots of local people and organisations as a much-needed meeting space where there was not one before. The Coffee Shop is a community interest company with any profits going back into the local community in order to see our area thrive. This has also given space for groups to form and a place to meet including Knit and Crochet, Craft Group, Support Hub, Bible Study Group and more. Local organisations like the Family Centre also use our rooms for training and support including parenting groups and Maths/English skills.
Your grant has not only helped us to revive a run-down Church but also created a community within it once again.
We thank you for the work you are doing enabling church communities to thrive and thank you for making a difference in giving us a grant towards our project.
