Capel Bethania, Cardigan
Bethania Baptist Church in Cardigan would like to thank the James Pantyfedwen Foundation for the generous funding received for the repair and maintenance of the vestry windows. The windows date back to the 1880s and over the years have been repaired using many distinct types of glass! The glass is now all similar and we were grateful for the advice of the craftsman who suggested that we use clear glass for the upper part and opaque glass for the bottom half of each window. This has made the vestry much lighter.
Since completing the work, we have held Coffee and Conversation get-togethers following each Communion Service and tea after the Christmas Service – with the vestry looking much lighter and more welcoming.
The wider community also makes use of the building for various meetings. The local Cancer Research Wales Committee used the Vestry for their Christmas Fair. Other Voices Festival used the chapel and the vestry during November when the Festival was held in the town. Subsequently, another local organisation, Jig-So, which works with children and families, are now holding one of its weekly sessions in the Vestry. It is so good to see the increasing use of the building.
Many thanks to the Pantyfedwen Founation for the support.
