St Twrog's Church, Llanddarog
The first phase of the project on St Twrog’s Church Llanddarog is now almost complete. During this phase, the church identified and rectified several external areas causing dampness in the church. Once these areas dry out it will be possible to move on to the next phase of removing some plaster and re-painting.
The door to the Vestry has been substantially renovated and with the new steps and guard rail to the Vestry external door, the health and safety issue has been overcome. The step itself is of stone and looks particularly pleasing. They are particularly pleased with the overall look of the church now the window guards are in place and the pointing has been completed.
However, perhaps more important to hear is that, over the period of the renovation, there has been the continued member participation in church events as well as church services. Five new members have been coming regularly to services, which in a small village is welcome news. The Mothers’ Union membership has also increased in 2024, and 16 children are now involved in the ‘Clwb Iau”. The Church has also held many baptisms, weddings and funerals in the past year, with three more weddings planned for the coming year. They also continue to support other local organizations, including collecting donations for the Foodbank and the Plant Dewi Baby Bundle appeal, and fundraising for Velindre Hospital and Bone Cancer.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the James Pantyfedwen Foundation for the grant received towards this important project.”
