St Cadoc's Church, Caerleon

In 2022, the leaders and members of St Cadoc’s Church decided on a ‘re-ordering project’ for the future. This project included re-modelling the worshipping environment by removing the pews and replacing them with stackable chairs allowing a flexible worship space for informal and more informal gatherings providing seating for up to 400 people. The project also included a plan to create quiet private areas for prayer and pastoral care, build new glass vestibules providing easier access and sources of natural light, provide a space for a new visitors centre to celebrate the history of the church, install internal toilets with baby changing requirements and disability access, install ramps at strategic points and a lift to the upper floor, install a fully resourced kitchen, provide a dedicated church office to serve as an administrative centre and as a place for confidential consultations, install a sustainable heating source, and provide external bike stands, as there is a major cycle route close by.

Phase one of the project has been completed. This involved the removal of the old stone floor, heating system and pews, and installing underfloor heating, a new stone floor and labyrinth. The next phase of the work will soon be started, and completion of the work will be of great benefit of the church members and the wider community.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the James Pantyfedwen Foundation for the funding awarded to our Church. It gave us great comfort before the project commenced to know that an external body was prepared to support our project.”
