St Mary's Church
The £1000 grant was used to part-fund the purchase of two large-screen TV’s and suitable laptop as well as mobile stands and cabling. The equipment has been found to be ideal with the screens giving easier setup and better visibility than the projector previously borrowed. The versatility of the movable stands and laptop have allowed them to be put to a wide variety of uses which are outlined below. The screens have been in use almost every week since purchase and a number of times some weeks.
The equipment is used at St Mary’s Church for Sunday services (providing all song words, video clips, PowerPoints, background slides and announcement slides at our contemporary service); occasionally in the traditional services to deliver video presentations and PowerPoint displays to support sermons; for morning worship and prayer (screening video-based worship); in Family Fun Mornings (running video-based children’s action songs); in the Youth Group (running the video-based Youth-Alpha course and running “Kahoot” quizzes for fun and learning); and for church committee meetings (displaying key information and graphics and allowing committee members to attend virtually). The screens have also been used in our Lent course/café-style church, the church historical tours, in concerts, holiday clubs, for Christmas events, information displays, training and working parties, and for funerals and christenings.
On behalf of the congregation of St Mary’s Church I would like to express gratitude to the James Pantyfedwen Foundation for their contribution to the provision of these excellent screens which have enhanced our service to the community and our worship.
