St Mary the Virgin Church Brecon

St Mary’s is a listed building located in the centre of Brecon with the Buckingham Tower which houses the town clock and bells located at the west end. The members of the church were keen to replace the old boiler with a more efficient and environmentally effective outlet for the benefit of all those who use the building during the week.

The Tower Cafe operates within the church Monday - Saturday from 9.00am to 4.00pm providing a warm venue, with staff employed by the church, and visited regularly by local people and visitors of all ages to enjoy. The Sunday Eucharist, at 9.30am, is followed by an informal ecumenical service, called Time Out, at 11.00am. Tuesday at 11.00am has a Eucharistic service, and at 6.00pm there is a meditation group meeting. On a Wednesday evening at 7.30pm, a local choir meets for rehearsal in the Church. In addition, the church is providing a Warm Space arrangement during this period of increased energy costs.

The above regular activities illustrate how important it has been to ensure that an efficient and reliable heating system is in operation, and the support of grant from the James Pantyfedwen Foundation, along with other funding packages, is invaluable and gratefully received, in order to realise such projects.

Diolch yn fawr iawn.
