I hail from what is considered to be a deprived background – from a single parent household with free school meals as a child, and I was the first member of my family to attend university. Indeed, it took me until well into my forties to actually study for my undergraduate degree, which was something I had always wanted to do but never thought I could. Progressing to a Masters, therefore, was the stuff of legend for me, yet here I am, part-way though my postgraduate dissertation.

My MA will now put me in a great position to secure a career in my chosen field of communications, and I am already finding that the qualification is presenting job-hunting opportunities that did not previously exist for me.

It is no exaggeration to say that if it were not for the grant I received from the James Pantyfedwen Foundation, I would never have had the opportunity to study at postgraduate level. I will forever be grateful to the Foundation for helping me achieve a dream that I had previously not dared to entertain.

Diolch o galon.
