I was very grateful to receive a postgraduate tuition fees grant from the James Pantyfedwen Foundation this year. This financial support allowed me to read for a Master of Studies degree in History at the University of Oxford which I have now graduated from with Distinction.
The MSt course afforded me the opportunity to specialise in Modern British History 1850 – Present and work on my primary research interests of Welsh Nationalism, politics and culture during the Second World War. My final thesis entitled ‘Croeso i Gymru: The Experience and Reception of English Evacuees in Wales 1939-1945’ received a Distinction grade.
Through this course I was further able to grow my skill set as a budding Historian through taught classes including Sources & Historiography and Theory & Methods. I am now very excited to apply for my PhD / DPhil in History as an aspiring professional Historian of Modern Britain and Wales.
