Receiving this scholarship from Pantyfedwen was a significant help while I studied towards my Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at Cardiff University. It was a challenging year for students, with the distance learning and constant lockdowns casting a shadow over everything. In order to be able to work from home, I needed to invest in new equipment and software, and the Pantyfedwen Scholarship was instrumental in helping me with the fees and therefore enabling me to spend on other essentials.

Completing my Master’s degree was exciting, but also challenging – but very rewarding to receive a Distinction at the end of the twelve months. It was a practical course, which meant we had weekly assessments. This course certainly prepared us for the real world of broadcasting and journalism, and I am now in my first job as a journalist with ITV Wales, a really varied job, including research work, editing, and presenting from time to time.

Undoubtedly, I needed the impetus to do an extra year at university and change my field of research, and the Pantyfedwen scholarship provided me with that encouragement. Thank you very much and thank you for all the Foundation’s work throughout the year.
