During this last year, I have been studying a Masters’ course in Youth Justice at Aberystwyth University, a course which has helped me gain a broad understanding of the youth justice systems in Britain and many other countries. The course has taught me about the challenges facing children and young people, and what needs to be developed to ensure that their well-being is paramount. I feel I have a better understanding of young people and the system following the course, and it will be extremely important as I progress in my career.

I have now been working with a charity that works with vulnerable and homeless young people, and just accepted a new job within the charity that works more closely with young people with mental health problems. I am proud to be helping young people in need, and feel that the Masters’ course has helped a great deal as I prepare for this work.
