St John's Church Birchgrove

As the church hall attached to St John’s Church in Birchgrove has been demolished to build 4 new bungalows, the church members were keen to convert the church itself into a multi-purpose building to provide a worship area, a hall area a new disabled toilet, a new kitchen area, and a new disabled access.

The works eventually commenced in April 2019 and was completed twenty-two months later – due to the discovery of bats in the church hall, very poor weather and then the Covid pandemic. However, all those involved are very pleased with the final result of the project, and an overall investment of some £540,000 has turned an unused area into the homes of four families and provided a new life and era for the whole community of Birchgrove with the multi use Church building. The church is beginning to be used for face to face fortnightly services once again, and is already being used for Dance Club, a play school, and craft clubs. These activities will grow and expand in due course.

The church members are most grateful to all who contributed funding for this highly successful project.
