St Pauls Church Aberystwyth
The members of St Paul’s Methodist Church in Aberystwyth were keen to refurbish their kitchen. This is used frequently by the church’s own congregations but it also houses the Oasis Cafe Bar, which is staffed by volunteers and provides drinks and snacks at a low price every weekday lunchtime. Also, on Thursdays, there is a Pay as You Go cafe, where the lunch is prepared for the local community using surplus supermarket food collected and distributed by Aber Food Surplus, a local environmental group. The cafe attracts many local people including a few homeless people. The members at the church were grateful to the James Pantyfedwen Foundation for the grant to support the kitchen, and they are looking forward to sharing this resource with the local community as soon as Covid restrictions allow.
