St David's Church Tonyrefail

St David’s Church in Tonyrefail is the largest public building in Tonyrefail, and in 2019 needed to repair the guttering, facias, and rafter ends, and repoint the stonework to ensure the building is waterproof and safe.

The building is in use very frequently for meeting and events organised by the church for mission work in the community: worship, house groups, Mother’s union, special services, coffee mornings, Sunday School, Messy Church, School Leavers’ Service, Big Breakfast, Christingle Service, Harvest Supper, Men’s fellowship.

It is also used by various other groups during the year, groups such as the University of the Third Age Family History Group, the University of the Third Age Book Club, Tonyrefail Environment Group, Tonyrefail Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, Tonyrefail Primary School, Tonyrefail Ladies Choir, the Richard Williams Singers, and Ny Ako, a group of Christians from Madagascar who regularly perform music, song and dance at the church. Now, thanks to grants from the James Pantyfedwen Foundation and other bodies, the church and the wider community are able to continue using a warm, dry church for all the above activities.
