I am extremely grateful to the Pantyfedwen Foundation for funding the second year of my MA in Architecture at the Royal College of Art. My experience at the RCA animated my interest in future economic scenarios and the technologies that change societies, as well as equipping me with the skills and confidence to pursue ambitious challenges. My work folds together geological, cultural and environmental heritage, making subtle changes to the believable to enable speculation on the unbelievable.

Since graduating in 2017 I have been working as an architectural designer at [Y/N] Studio on a range of community work spaces and affordable housing projects. Alongside my work in practice, I have collaborated with Slade Artist in Residence, Amanda Rice, on an alternative architectural walking tour, as well as gaining a position as a sessional design lecturer at the Canterbury School of Architecture. None of which would have been possible without the generous sponsorship of the Pantyfedwen Foundation.

More recently, I have been collaborating with Welsh jewellery designer, Rachel Jones-Jones, on a project for the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2019, where we are thrilled to be representing Welsh craft and design abroad. The project builds on research carried out during my MA, which focussed on solar architecture and speculative economies in the Rhondda Valleys. Our proposal consists of a collection of domestic tools to encourage playful interactions with the sun, and will be included in a borrowing library in Oslo where they will be loaned to people for experimentation and play.
